![]() With their help, threats that cross dimensional borders could be better handled - and thanks to the magical potential of Otherworld and the Corps as a whole, they could provide assistance that the more tech-heavy and physicality-based multiversal heroes can offer. This could set up the Captain Britain Corps to become dedicated defenders of the entire multiverse, with a prominent Earth-616 hero at the lead. Thanks to their abilities to cross worlds, they could offer support to other multiversal bands of heroes (such as the team being assembled in Avengers Forever, or the Spider-Heroes tied together through the Web of Life and Destiny). Now, with the Earth-616 Betsy at the lead and Prestige by her side, the Captain Britain Corps could prove a crucial peacekeeping force for the multiverse. However, they've been primarily mired in Otherworld conflict. A new Corps, structured around Betsy instead of Brian Braddock, was borne out of the events of X of Swords. In the past, the Captain Britain Corps was a united multiversal front - but they were largely wiped out in the build up to Secret Wars. This is a big step for Betsy Braddock, and a potentially major boon for the heroes of the Marvel multiverse. ![]() The story ends with Betsy and Rachel - who recently confirmed their romance - uniting with the rest of the Captain Britain Corps to patrol and protect the Marvel multiverse as a whole. With the help of Rachel Summers' Askani powers, the whole multiverse could be opened up to the Corps, who seek to protect the entire multiverse instead of just serving the interests of Otherworld's ruler. With Otherworld now somewhat free, Betsy reveals her new intention - to patrol the multiverse. Speaking to all three, Betsy makes it clear that she's still angry with Saturnynne, is frustrated with former ally Roma, and furious with Merlyn - professing no loyalty to the former two and seemingly killing the latter. After the battle with Merlyn is won - thanks largely to the creation of a new Krakoa Gate in the Mister M controlled region of Otherworld - Captain Britain decides she's had it with the power players of Otherworld trying to use her as a pawn in their plans.Īs time passed, Betsy decided that every effort to court her loyalty was a bid to take command of the Captain Britain Corp - and Betsy is tired of it. As the sworn protector of Otherworld and the champion of the Starlight Citadel, Betsy has increasingly showcased her full abilities and potential. An experienced hero in her own right, Betsy has found herself confronting a whole new level of challenges as a result of her position. I”d watch that.At the heart of Knights of X - and the Excalibur series that proceeded it - has been Betsy Braddock, aka the current Captain Britain. A superhero show sent in a mythical realm complete with pegasuses (pegasi?) and Celtic gods would be interesting. Unless the show goes to FOX in some capacity, mutants are off the table. Better known to humans as Avalon (yes, THAT one). When that got boring, Captain Britain wandered off to be the king of Otherworld. In that comic, Captain Britain teams up with his girlfriend Meggan, the X-Men Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Rachel Summers to save the world. Because comics are weird, Braddock ends up rooming with Spider-Man during a college semester in America before Marvel settled him into EXCALIBUR. Brian chooses the amulet and becomes Captain Britain, England”s first superhero.ĭue to the origin of his powers, Captain Britain fights more supernatural threats than standard world-destroying capitalists. ![]() The two offer Braddock a choice, an amulet or a sword. After a tragic accident involving a motorcycle and a cliff, Braddock was approached by Merlyn (yes, THAT one) and his daughter Roma. So who is Captain Britain? Other than the twin brother of Psylocke? Created way back in 1956, Brian Braddock came into his powers via magic. “ can”t make an official comment on this,” might be boilerplate…but it”s not a hard no. I reached out to my contact in Marvel”s television division, but they played it coy. Waiting for the go ahead from the co-producer I can't reveal anything yet but hopefully I'll be able to soon. With most of the A-List already spoken for – FOX has licked every single mutant so now they belong to them – things are getting weird.ĭid anyone ever expect Captain Britain to get his own show? Because he might be, at least if producer Ciara McAvoy's Twitter is correct.įor my 1000th Tweet: Who will be playing Brian Braddock in the upcoming tv series #CaptainBritain? #Marvel Stay tune! /e0gbXKjdav From Netflix and The CW to the Big Three (ABC, CBS, FOX), everyone is snapping up Marvel and DC properties as fast as they can. Let”s not kid ourselves we currently live in the middle of superhero gold rush. ![]()
